The Art of Poetry

The most common form of art one might think of ranges from watercolor paintings splashed onto a canvas to intricate charcoal drawings carved into a blank space. But my type of art starts with ideas, once blurry and floating inside my mind, soon condensed into precise words and etched onto paper. There is nothing more satisfying than describing something until it sounds full and real enough to be visualized or felt, something that can be written in such a way that when the reader closes their eyes, the illustration is painted in their minds.

Poetry is a tool for communication and reflection, giving voice to emotions and words that could not have been otherwise spoken. Poems are not just gilded words but can be used as inked reminders of beauty and significance sprinkled into your daily life or the life of those you love.

The Goal

With every purchase, 51% of the proceeds will be donated to Aiyla who, a few months ago, was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome and Trisomy X. Having experienced firsthand the impact of losing a sibling to Trisomy, I hope to help Aiyla a little bit at a time through every poem sold. Aiyla will need a lifetime of treatments, appointments, and full-time care, so I hope that what will be donated will be a blessing to her, despite the challenges she is facing. More information on her story can be found in the link below: https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-aiylas-rett-syndrome-treatment

I have always loved writing. In middle school, my favorite assignments were the ones where I was tasked to produce a creative writing story. That encouraged me to try writing novels in my free time. At first, they were simple stories, like a boy saving his city from a sea monster or a young girl’s adventures with her pet dog. But then, as I got older, I dived into deeper stories, like capturing the mind of a girl struggling with dyslexia or the life of an orphan girl haunted by her past.

As I kept on writing, I realized that novels weren’t really my thing—having to construct entire storylines and plot twists did not really excite me. So the time that I spent writing novels quickly turned into time spent writing short stories and poems. Poems became an outlet for me to release everything that I might have been feeling, carrying the messages that I always wished to hear. With the poems published here, I hope that, for others who happen to read them, they will also find as much peace and encouragement through my writing as I have.
